Human Trafficking AKA Forced Labor

Today I attended one of the best trainings I ever had. The topic was "Human Trafficking and Modern-Day Slavery: Tools for a Practical Response." This is that topic which is been keeping me on my toes since December 2009 when I went for a training on Domestic Violence. Today I learnt legal aspects related to Human Trafficking and also how law enforcement is involved in saving and protecting victims and survivors.

I have a lot on my mind about this topic and lost as well so I am not able to write well either lol. I guess I will have to write back again on it...but lord know when and how!

On the other hand, I am so drained and sleepy because my roommate decided to throw a party at home when I have a lot of studies to do, when I have project to finish. Oh I hate it when people say "I want to have a study pad, after all we are in Graduate school" and every now and then he has visitors who are loud and every now and then he is inviting people over to drink, eat and play video games, and worse throw drinking parties to girls who are freakingly loud and guys who are drooling over those girls:-(. Sad! I can just hope that I am able to finish my project on time and able to perform well.

Week Two, and weirdness goes on...

Almost the end of week two, and a lot of work pending. All the classes have given us assignments and I feel I am so drained emotionally and physically. I am doing what I am supposed to do but I seriously dont like to do a lot of group work because I end up doing most of the work and credit goes to the group. I enjoy working on my own and with my own timings because the definition of team has gone to woods in Graduate school :-( I seriously dont like but I will get through it with flying colors...

Oh and I am seeing weirdest dreams these days. Not nightmares but weird dreams and its so freaking hard to explain the weirdness of these dreams. Most of these dreams have characters from series desperate housewives and my ex's family/relative or he himself, and my family members...all in one place...all in one dream...wow scary huh? And funny thought is that most of the time I subconsciously tell myself that its okay, keep sleeping its just a dream and then I continue with the sleep and weird dream...ugh!

Junoon!

This Tuesday was an exciting day. After the photographic exhibition Judgment Day at Fishbowl Chapel in University Religious Center at USC, I attended Interfaith council meeting where we discussed such awesome topic this week. These topics help me grow towards a better living and more grounded faith. I am so glad I am part of this council and will stay as long as I can, inshaallah!

After the inter faith council meeting most of us went to see "Common Chords" It was such a divine evening. What music and what ambiance wow... I am a fan of Salman Ahmed since I was a teen girl. I saw him live at USC in the same auditorium in 2008. He was performing alone and it was another amazing experience. I took couple of my classmates too who are not South Asians or Jewish and they enjoyed it thoroughly as well. I tried posting a picture from the event but these blog settings didn't let me :-(. I hope you just enjoy listening to Junoon and Salman Ahmed on youtube :-)

Judgment Day

USC religious center presented a visual experience (a photographic exhibition) called "judgment Day" and this has nothing to do with the Christian judgment day and has a lot to do with it. It was an eyes opening and very bold experience. The photographs were taken by Nicole Maloney.

"People enter and depart this world naked. In between, they cloths themselves in garments that tell the world who they are and what they believe. We judge. We act on these judgments. Do we go too far? Why do we do this?"

Such blunt truth kicks us humans, isnt it?

Here is the glimpse of photo:
